We are never taught to ask ourselves who we really are. Formal education systems and society put a strong emphasis on intellectual development and on measurable progress, on personal growth that one can prove through an exam. Yet as society becomes more knowledgeable, individuals become more anxious. As we gain access to more information and as we build better stuff, we do not mature emotionally.
Self-acceptance and self-discovery are not meant to replace what we learn at school. Rather, they are meant to make sure that we have the means to use that knowledge in a way that will make the world a better place.
